Project Spotlight

Jay Group

One of the largest projects in Jay Group's history was the consolidation of two existing production facilities into its new Elizabethtown building. The client base was expanding beyond its production capabilities and there was a need to prepare for additional future capacity. The plan for the new facility called for 10 production lines, support systems for the production lines and four-million dollars of new co-packing equipment. However, this facility was not originally set up for high-volume production. Thus the challenge became timely installation of the electrical infrastructure to support the business needs.

Lapp Solution:

Once the master plan was complete, it was our job to design the electrical systems to serve the warehouse production areas.  We based our design on the electrical requirements of the equipment needed for all of the production lines.  The multi-phase project required bringing power from the building’s main service and distributing it at the appropriate voltage and amperage configurations to specific points along the lines. In addition to production line equipment were the support systems for these lines, such as air compressors, dryers, conveyor systems and bailers. Two key components of our plans were the flexibility to allow easy changes in their line configuration and allowances for future growth and system expansion. This approach provides long-term savings and convenience to the customer.

“Over the last year the Jay Group has changed facilities and increased our capabilities, which meant a substantial equipment expansion and a lot of electrical work.  One of Lapp’s greatest strengths is being able to adapt and be flexible as we work to meet the needs of our customers.”
